Technology transfer from the space industry
Czech company Argotech a.s. is a research and development company specializing in optics, electronics and mechanics. It provides expertise, engineering services…
The Technology Center of the ASCR has been cooperating with Workswell s.r.o. for several years. During that time we repeatedly performed an innovation analysis of company, discussed the business strategy, distribution network, intellectual property protection and supplied it with an overview of grant programs for research and innovation projects.
As part of the preparation and promotion of the financial seminar at the beginning of March 2020, Jan Sova, director and co-owner of Workswell s.r.o. mentioned that: “Project financing does not currently bother our company. Barriers on the domestic market and a large drop in sales of most products are rather problematic. In addition, due to the development of the COVID-19 pandemic in Asia, we are very interested in the commercialization of the new WORKSWELL MEDICAS thermal camera, which is used for identifying people with elevated temperature, in Europe and beyond."
"Our response was immediate. We discussed not only the strategy of Workswell in this situation, but also the need to reorient to new business opportunities," says Jiri Vavrinek, project manager of the Technology Center CAS. In the context of the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, our technology transferist also highly praised this innovative product. This very powerful thermal camera brings a great technological shift in the field, with its accuracy and sensitivity of measurements there is not a comparable product on the market.
Therefore, we offered the company a previously unused service to support international trade cooperation. Within 2 days, we prepared a business offer for the International Database of EEN profiles. As the COVID-19 pandemic began to spread exponentially in Europe, there was a great interest in the thermal camera from the moment of the profile publication, first from Europe and later also from Asia. In a few weeks a dozen inquiries (Expression of Interests) were sent via the EEN database. Negotiations on cooperation are long-term due to the premium quality of the product and the company's requirements for distributors. In mid-May 2020, the first distribution agreement (PA Business) was agreed with a Greek company offering security cameras. Other contracts are currently under negotiation.
