Mediation of entrepreneurs' opinions on European Union legislation (so-called SME feedback) is very important. Questionnaire surveys conducted by the Enterprise Europe Network in 2019 found that companies would welcome a secure service that would allow them to communicate with their foreign business partners without having to deal with a language issue.

The result of the investigation and cooperation between the European Commission and companies is a tool called eTranslation, which is based on similar principles as commonly available commercial tools, but works from a secure work environment and offers a sufficiently large data storage. The service is open to anyone looking for a reliable document translation tool; that is, both businesses and citizens. The tool works in all official languages of the European Union, as well as in Icelandic and Norwegian (bokmål).
